It's soccer season again. It's hard to get any good action shots from the game because there is very little action in the game itself. In today's game it took an average of 12 seconds to score a goal and about a minute and a half to get the kids back to the center and ready to go. They play 4-minute quarters, so . . . the best action takes place in warmups. The top picture is Addison during a drill when the kids were pretending to be airplanes. Addison is a very jazzy and intense plane. In the second shot, Addison is pretending to walk like a duck . . . during the walk-like-a-duck drill.He's getting really good at soccer.

Nice. Is it co-ed? Because that ruined soccer for me at age 6. I was already too competitive to want to play with a bunch of girls who, predominantly, seemed interested only in picking dandelions off the pitch, running around holding hands, and kicking it in the wrong goal. I never played soccer again after age 6. Hopefully A's experience is none of the following:

He's a little competitive. Sometimes if he doesn't like how a play is transpiring, he tackles someone. Other times he gets completely disinterested. See the updated link to an example from last year.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'd say the lack of competitive play is split equally between the boys and girls at this point. I think you have to keep playing a couple years past age 6 before you start to weed out the players who don't really want to play. For now, though, some of the best players in the so-called league are girls.
