Could There BE Any More Change?

Yesterday was a huge change for me, as Monica and I decided to move in together. We had been deliberating a decision to get married in Vegas because all the signs seemed to be pointing that way. But after seeing our friends Ross & Rachel get married on a drunken whim, we realized things were just moving all too fast. And then it hit me: what if we kind of committed to each other but not really? What better way to say, "I love you for now," than to just live with each other without any kind of legally binding contract?

I'm really excited about it, even though I'll miss my best friend Joey. And for Monica and Rachel, it's the end of an era. But for the two of us, I think it's a risky but necessary test to see if our relationship will last or if we really just jumped the shark when we hooked up in London.

Oh, and yeah, if I can't make a meaningful change on any given February day, I'm just going to assume the identity of a TV character who did. Stay tuned.

  1. I'm glad that you know your Friends. Michael would consider this a flaw, but I'm fascinated. Michael has yet to jump on the bandwagon, even though I've made the offer wide open for him to view any one of my many seasons of Friends on dvd...oh well. I guess every couple has their disagreements.

I especially like the title...it's exactly how Mr. Bing would say it.

  2. Ha! Heather and I are both Friends fanatics. I can relate most occurences in life to scenes from Friends. Michael probably doesn't like it because he's too much like that one boyfriend of Phoebe's who always analyzed everyone and berated their messed up social dynamics (their "sad, codependent needy roles that have them all crying out, 'Define me! Define me!'). He's much nicer than that guy, of course, but in terms of his relationship to the Friends gang, I'm guessing the characterization is dead on. I think his criticisms of the show would fall right in line with that characters criticism of the Friends gang in general.

  3. It's just food, Monica. It's not love.

  4. I'm glad you said it was that boyfriend of Phoebe's and not the one who's workout shorts were too short who enjoyed putting his leg up on the armchair at Central Perk because then we might have a problem....
